Best Break-Up Songs

What is your favorite break-up song?
Here’s a growing list of some of my favorites:
- Avril Lavigne, “My Happy Ending” — I love this song,
probably one of the better of the bunch - Alanis Morrissette, “You Oughta Know” — An angry song,
yet still a little pathetic. You were dumped, moved on. - Justin Timberlake, “Cry Me a River” — You go boy, he put it on the line with this song and the video is like ‘wow.’
- Whitney Houston, “You’re Still My Man” — Think 18, pathetic–get
over it girl. - Phil Collins, “Against All Odds” & “Separate Lives“
- No Doubt, “Don’t Speak“
- Dolly Parton or Whitney Houston, “I Will Always Love You.“
- Gloria Gaynor, “I Will Survive“
- Cher, “Strong Enough“
- Celine Dion, “My Heart Will Go On“
- Madonna, “You’ll See“
- Christina Aguilera, “Fighter“
- Sinead O’Connor, “Nothing Compares to You“
- Kelly Clarkson, “Since U Been
Gone“ - Alicia Keyes and Usher, “My Boo“
- Jewel, “Foolish Games“

I didn’t see “Song for the Dumped” by Ben Folds Five!!! That is the best ever break-up song. Check it out if you don’t know it.

“I Don’t Want to Be Your Friend” by Cyndi Lauper…mostly because it came out around the time I was in the middle of bad breakup and it said exactly what I was feeling. It’s a great kiss-off song.

I say American Hi-Fi’s “The Breakup Song”, one more thing before you go/ Will you please give me my records back/ My Bloody Valentine, the Pixies, Cheap Trick and Back in Black/ You can keep the dog we bought but you can’t go near the standard bar/ Don’t hang around don’t call my friends, they don’t know who you are! We’re sinkin and I’m thinkin, how the hell did we get so stupid

“No Giving Up” by Crossfade is a good one. But 3 of the best sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs breakup songs are all from the newest Papa Roach CD: “Blood”, “Done With You”, and “Scars”!

I don’t see any Boyz 2 Men song there. Their single End of the Road is a classic tearjerker. And how about Brian McKnight’s One last. I it is also a great breaking up song. I also observed that most songs are lately released.

windham, it’s funny that you mention “boyz 2 men” and “brian mcknight”…for some reason despite their lyrics, i equate their songs with lovemaking
