According to the Movie Blog, the reason Owen Wilson was hospitalized was due to a suicide attempt.

Life is such a b$tch sometimes, but it is also precious and wonderful. It is definitely not easy for any of us, including Hollywood actors, who seem to have it all.

Anyway, Wilson released this statement to TMZ.com:

“I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.”
