Paula Abdul Caught in American Idol Scandal

American Idol, Season Four, seems to be mired in scandal — phone snafus, Constantine’s early exit, now the potential indiscretions by AI Judge Paula Abdul. Note I say, potential, because who can say if Corey Clark (American Idol contestant from season two) is even telling the truth. I’m just wondering how and why Corey had her cell phone number. And if his phone records are legitimate, why was Paula calling him? I’m sure it’s not common practice for American Idol contestants to have AI judges’ cell phone numbers and to engage in long phone chats. Plus, it looks like Corey Clark clung to every piece of evidence he could that may somehow remotely link him to Paula Abdul. I’m just surprised he didn’t pull out a “semen-stained dress” from his closet. His “kiss and tell” performance was kind of disgusting but if true, Paula did take advantage of a kid and now, the kid is acting out. Traditionally, American Idol has been unforgiving of contestants. How will the show react to a judge’s indiscretion (if that’s the case)? The show’s credibility is on the line although I suspect that the latest scandal will boost ratings and the show’s popularity (short-term) as everyone wants to see Paula’s behavior next week. The long-term effects for AI are not too clear. Will contestants seek to endear themselves to the judges to get an advantage? Will contestants seek to set up judges? Is American Idol, “American Idol” without Paula Abdul? ……….
